How could I have forgotten?
Goodness, I bought it like, almost a whole month ago.
Yes, that’s right. I sold my Rebel XS and bought the brand new Rebel T1i (500D) which gives me all my former Rebel goodness + full 1080p HD video!
Among the other favorite features, I’m also really happy about the 12 800 ISO, which is a vast improvement over the 1600 I was using before. My night shots are so crisp and clean. The ISO grain at 1600 is almost completely gone. Of course, you get it back when you are shooting upwards 3200-6400+ but it isn’t nearly as bad as before, and, honestly, what can you expect?
I shot with the kit lens (f3.5) in a candle lit room and got clean shots at 1/8 a second. Cool!
I’ll be working more with the video this summer, and will post to let you know when things come out on my currently empty Vimeo page.
Happy shooting!

Yup, I bought a new one.
After much debate, I went with the Canon Rebel XS. You can read all about it here: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0806/08061002canon1000d.asp
So, sadly, the A540 is being pushed down to my “backup and movie taking” camera. I still stand behind my “It isn’t the camera that makes good pictures, it’s the photographer.” statement. But really, I do love the new camera. I don’t think it makes my pictures better, but it gives me more options to play with.
So for those of you at home who feel inadaquate with thier mom’s point and shoot, don’t be. If I can take award winning photography with mine, so can you. All it takes is an eye fr good pictures, not an expensive setup.

Helping out around the school I came across packing palettes sitting in the sun, I had the school’s G9 at the time and thought to take a quick picture. I’m thinking my photos are repetitive, always being of similar style. I should expand more.

Wood truly is a remarkable subject for photography.
Since I was using the G9 at full res (12.1 MP, for those of you who need your toes to count that high) I can print the picture at 18″ x 13″. If you’d like backgrounds, they are available in any size.

In the recent strange success of the “ant’s eye view” topic (see the detailed wood photo in an old post) I think I’ll post this photo that I deemed earlier to be of un blog worthy qualities.

Grape Juice, mmm.
Is this similar to a band riding on the coat tails on a one hit wonder song? Ah well, I will anyway.

In suit with all my other pictures, heavy macro and lots of texture.

I have to think this is what an ant sees.

Just a random bug that I found walking by. Thankfully my macro decided to work for that picture.

Only minor photoshop (the black outline) and colour.

Do the dew.

Somewhat out of focus, but oh well.

Hiking is so much more fun when you have to climb over (under) trees, so why they cut them off the trail, I’m not sure.
Wheel chair access maybe? Pfft.

Beauty found in brutality. Kids, only you can prevent this.

And back to steampunk.
Since the phoenix is severely screwed up (the click for fullscreen thing) I’m using this as a test.

Such texture, such Depth of Field.
Yup, still messed up.
You’re missing like, half the image. Maybe it’s time to find a new theme that is more picture oriented. If this is permanent, I feel the need to change.
