Scrapbook 05

A decidedly mocha coloured theme.

Love the one handed watch. Each little tick is 15 minutes, which is how I pretty much use /see time anyway. Everything is in 15 minute chunks…

Minimalism Misconceptions.

February 27, 2011 § Leave a comment

When did minimalism come to mean “Completely lifeless box of uncomfortable misery?”

Surprising to most, true minimalism isn’t about hard, white surfaces at all, actually; you can be incredibly warm and comfortable and still be “minimalist”.

Chrome Theme 02: Zune Shell Match

February 24, 2011 § Leave a comment

If you happen to like orange-pink and white and downloaded the Zune theme for Windows 7 shell you can also download the free Google Chrome theme I quickly made to match.

You can download my Chrome there here, just save the .crx file to your desktop and click on it, Chrome will open and ask to change the theme. “Yup!” You say, excited to change up your life and start anew, possibly starting to diet and exercise for once.

Man, I had no idea I was such a force for good!

And if you want to download the Windows 7 theme you can find that here, follow those instructions. I accept no liability if that download doesn’t help you diet and become exceptionally attractive to the opposite gender like mine will. Also, I accept no liability of either of them catastrophically meltdown your entire computer because you didn’t follow the instructions properly.

Smart Car Redesign *update*

February 24, 2011 § Leave a comment

You’ll probably recall I did a quick scribbling the other day of a Smart chassis car that looks ‘cool’ or, at the very least, not nearly as dumb as the current Smart car.

It seems they listened and came out with the above (and it record time, I only posted mine days ago!)

It’s the new Smart Forspeed and it’s a step in the right direction, I think. It has a lower center of gravity and looks far less top heavy as it might around the corners. It still has those disgustingly adorable round headlights which give it this eager puppy dog face that will have the middle aged woman demographics covered, but aren’t aggressive enough for the market of people who are actually looking for speed (see what I did there?) in their vehicles. But, that category probably wouldn’t have anything to do with Smart as a brand in the first place, so perhaps it’s a wise move to appeal to the type of people who think Thunderbird convertibles are “cute”.

Once they figure out how to get that menacing slit eyelid angry face headlights in these typically bubbly round cars, we’ll be golden.

Elegant & practical.

Sorry about the picture quality on that last one…

Take a look at all the shots here.

I love how expressive and abstract mix with concrete and “real” illustration.

This goes back to what I’ve always said about art and photography: if you can define an action, motion or emotion within a still frame you’ve achieved something more than just a picture.

Definitely check out his full site, lots of great work.
